Monday 24th March

I came home in the evening. There was a niggle of pain but nothing significant at this point and I got through the night with just normal pain killers. I did the table below to keep track of meds as the nurses said that I must keep taking them at the same time. This has worked well so far. Time seems to be flying so recovery feels like it is going well. By day 3 the pain had arrived so I used oramorph as a top up after the regular medication.

I was on regular Ibuprofen so had to take Omeprazole to coat my stomach to prevent bleeding. I was also on Apixaban to help prevent blood clots. The Ezetimibe was for my cholesterol which is why I was on Apixaban and not aspirin. The surgeon was in contact with my GP so they worked on this together. I was sent home with oramorph but did not have to use it much that first week. Ironically the pain was worse weeks later when I started using my leg more, so it is worth hanging onto it just in case you need it.
